Day 10 – Wine Bar
The cafe next to the launderette has six types of wine on tap 🙂
Day 9/30 The Kitchen Sink
I don’t enjoy housework but I do love living in a clean, tidy home. It’s worth the pain.
Thanks to my mum I have a lot of thick, wavy hair. My hair care routine consists of washing in the shower, blow drying and then straightening with ceramic irons. The whole process takes me almost two hours. Luckily I only have to do it every three or four days.
Day 8/30 – Bibbona
What a beautiful day to be alive x
19 Rosso is THE bar in Casale for aperitivo. It sits up, overlooking the main square and it’s seating lines the walls of the path into the bar. It’s a tiny little bar with more seating outside than in. There are multi-media artworks adorning every surface. I love the feel of the place. It is hip with a rebellious streak and just a little psychedelic. The music is always smooth and it has the perfect vibe for that pre-dinner tipple. Along with your prosecco or aperol spritz comes a slate of nibbles that look too pretty to eat. They are colourful titbits to tide you over and possibly help you decide to stay for just one more drink before heading off for your dinner reservations.
A walk in the vineyard of the Fontemorsi Organic Winery in Montescudaio. Our host, Maike, lead us through the grape fields and described the what, where, when, how and why of organic winemaking. She skilfully switched between Italian, German and French to ensure everyone in the group heard the story. After our stroll we were seated outside a beautiful farmhouse where we were delighted with a sample of the five different varieties of wine they create accompanied by a lavish, finger-food buffet.
Did you know the Rosato (rosé) wine is pressed after only eight hours of fermentation which means the wine does not take on the dark red from the skin of the grapes?
A wee Tuscan hilltop town.
Prawn Skewer
In my head it said ‘skewer’ not ‘skewers’ which meant only one stick, maybe with 4 or 6 big shrimp, done on the grill. It came with tomatoes, lettuce and courgettes. Happy days – gluten free, bit of protein, tonnes of veggies the perfect meal. I was wrong.
Day two sees me in my favourite fast-food restaurant in London; LEON.
I love Leon. I love that they have real food. Like salmon and broccoli and vegetables and kombucha. I love that they have a range of GF options that include rice or quinoa. I love that they use compatible cups and biodegradable containers. I love that they are replacing their plastic with plant-based materials. Thank you Leon, I love you.
